Description
A simple church service at Hill Top Farm, northeast of Ypres, Belgium, during World War I. Regimental drums are piled up to form a makeshift altar, and the men stand with heads bowed. The surrounding landscape is marred by barbed wire, craters and bare, broken trees. Aerial shell bursts overhead mark the flight of planes.
